We are heading towards another busy Christmas season again folks. It’s a tougher one for lots of people this year and many will have to put in some careful thought and plan ahead. The cost of living has risen exponentially, with mortgages, rents, utilities, fuel and food costs on the rise.
Yet it can still be very easy to get caught up with ‘keeping up with the Jones’. To have the latest and best- ‘the must have’ of 2022. The thing is this; by the time we get to next year we realise we did not really need it at all!
Question: What do I really need? How much will it cost me and is it actually worth it?
This year I fancy getting a Swiss Army knife with various attachments. We are going on a mission trip to Africa in January and I am trying to think ahead! A can opener, screw driver, eye glass and something to cut with may all come in quite handy!
We have had requests for my autobiography ‘Butterfly Man’ from people who would like to give them out as gifts. My prayer is that they are useful in pointing people to The Lord. I tried to be open and honest yet sensitive with it when I was writing it. It was written with a view to help others. I hope it makes a good gift and am privileged and humbled to make it available.
But what of the very best gift you can receive?
2 Corinthians 9v15: “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”
That is God’s gift of His own dear Son - The Lord Jesus Christ. It is Him we remember in this special season. No price tag to show His great value. His gift can be received by faith in His finished work on the cross. He was born as a sinless child- but for a purpose that only He could fulfil. The salvation of sinners. It’s a free and genuine offer. The Lord Jesus is God’s unspeakable gift.
Wishing each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas. Much love and blessings from Pastor John and all at GCF.
