The month of February stands apart for a couple reasons:
It is a traditionally a season where couples show their love for each other in the giving of cards and gifts. It is also the shortest month of the year with only 28 days and unique in that on a leap year (every 4th year) an extra day is added to it. But did you know the word ‘February’ comes from the Latin ‘februum’ which means purification?
James 4v8:
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
In this great verse we are admonished to draw near to God. Now during this season of unprecedented lockdowns and restrictions there may well have been times you were unable to draw near to those you love and likewise them to you. However, there is no such restriction in approaching God, neither is He limited from drawing near to you. In fact, quite the reverse is true! You are guaranteed if you draw near to Him that He will reciprocate.
We are further called to cleansed and purified. That can really only happen when God draws near to us in our lives. A deep encounter with The Lord through His Son Jesus Christ is what is required to cleanse us from the inside out. His Holy Spirit comes and lives in you and gives you power to change, a purity of heart and of spirit that only God’s grace can achieve.
Here at GCF we wish each and every one of you a blessed February 2022. May it bring you love, freedom and purity in Christ.
Blessings Pastor John
