February Blog - 2024

Here at Breakthrough Church have recently started a miniseries on the subject of worship. I would like to share a few simple thoughts with you this month.

It’s almost Valentines Day again. A time couples celebrate their love and affection for each other. It could involve a gift, a meal or a a simple token of affection.

There are two Greek words used for worship in the New Testament. The first is ‘psokuneo’ used 60 times - to adore , to reverence , to kiss or to fawn. The second is ‘Latreuontes’ used 21 times -and it speaks of service.

Sadly, many who profess their love for another person may well not even be with them this time next year. They don’t really adore or reverence each other, and many certainly don’t want to serve the needs of their partner.

However, the question is are you really a worshipper of God?

Are you in love with Him? If so, what evidence can be seen in your life that ties in with that?

Will you only follow in what you perceive to be the good times?

Or is your relationship with Him deeper than that?

Job in the Bible worshipped God when he seemed to have everything. He did likewise when everything else was stripped away!

Job 1v 21“Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”

He was really in love with The Lord. He reverenced Him and continued to serve even in the most difficult of days.

In fact, we have 41 Chapters where things are tough for him.

It’s only in the final Chapter of that book everything he has lost is restored and much more. The greatest love you will ever find is the love of Jesus. John 15v13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Be blessed and worship The Lord and like Job your relationship with Him will deepen and grow.

Love and blessings- Pastor John and all at Breakthrough Church
