t’s that season again, Valentine’s Day is approaching!
A day to celebrate and reveal our love towards the special person in our lives.
Have you ever sat near (or perhaps you are one of those people) who debate who loves the other one most? Sometimes this is found with courting couples.
Sweetheart 1:“ I love you more”
Sweetheart 2” No, I love you more”
You will never quite get to the bottom of it. Hopefully they feel that way in another lot of years; sadly that’s not always the case.
But who does show us the most love, and how do they show it? Scripture as always helps us here:
John 15v13; “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” That’s what Jesus did friends.
Or
Romans 5v8; “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
You can be sure to die for another person is great love, it’s sacrificial love. However, Christ died for us not when we were His friends, but His enemies. We now love Him because He first loved us.
That is certainly something worth both embracing and celebrating. Galatians 2v20: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Much love,
from Pastor John and all at Breakthrough Church.
