What do you think of when the word “Easter “ is mentioned? If you have children, it’s a time for school holidays and chocolate eggs. It can be a fun family time too.
Others think of it as a religious celebration. I believe, wherever you stand on it
theologically, any day is a good day to celebrate the resurrection of Christ!
There have been many great events in the history of the world- yet none bigger or more exciting than this story. Mathew 28v1-6:
At the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: and for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
The religious leaders of Jesus day wanted Him dead, buried and forgotten. The Roman Empire( the super power of its day) brutally tortured and killed Jesus, and sealed His tomb so He never could leave it.
This beautiful passage tells of how Gods plan overrules all of mans plans!
The good news: He is risen!
If you know Him as your personal saviour you have no need to fear either. If you are a seeker of Christ today, you will also find He is risen. His empty grave proof He has resurrection power. He is able to raise you too.
May you find Christ as Mary did as she searched in that garden, I pray you know Him calling your name to a new life found in The Lord Jesus Christ.
