It’s holiday time again folks! It feels like there is a considerable amount more freedom of movement and of restrictions compared to the past couple of years. Many are now beginning to venture abroad again on vacation, though some are still staying closer to home at least for now.
Still, it’s not total freedom, is it? Certain places require test results prior to enjoying your holiday. At the moment there is a bit of unrest with issues in the transport system and industrial action taking place. The cost of living in general has risen quite dramatically this year, one of the first things people cut back on is travel and vacations.
Have you ever considered what total freedom really looks like? The bible promises that those who have saving faith in Jesus will experience total freedom. John 8v36 tells us this:
"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
Free from what though? Not necessarily the financial squeeze or liberty to visit the location of your choosing. It is something much more profound than that.
It is freedom from sin. New life in Christ. That when your time on this earth comes to an end your soul will be free to travel the greatest journey of all. That is into the presence of The Lord. 2 Corinthians 5v7&8:
“For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
Not a holiday that will come to an end. Rather an eternity to spend with The Lord in a place He has prepared for you.
Many holiday companies are offering “deals” right now. With the greatest respect I can muster I tell you there is no offer like the free offer of the gospel. Wishing each and every one of you a wonderful new season.
