The hustle and bustle, canvassing and knocking doors begins. Another General Election has been called for this summer.
The parties are preparing for it, sifting candidates and checking policies, all vying for your vote!
As a Christian Pastor I have no party I aim to promote. However, I do suggest looking for those who are closest to holding Christian values. In areas of family, sexuality and morality. Freedom of religious expression is always a big consideration.
1 Timothy 2v1&2:
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty
However, whoever you choose (if anyone), there is a very real possibility they will not completely fulfil the pre-election promises.
A far weightier matter is thinking of and preparing for eternity.
Joshua 24v15: “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua determined whatever anyone else did he and his were going on for God! Let us do likewise in our personal lives, families and churches and I believe this can again be a nation known for their love of God’s ways and values.
Revival preacher Jonathan Edwards made two famous resolutions:
1. “I will live for God “
2. “If no one else does, I still will.”
The principal cross is not on your voting paper - it’s Calvary’s Cross where Jesus suffered and died for the sins of all who trust in Him. That is good news and something you can stake your eternity on.
Love and blessings from all at Breakthrough Church.
