March blog 2020 Conform or Transform?

Romans 12: 1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God

Has there ever been a generation with so much pressure to conform? I doubt it to be honest. Our youth of today feel pressure to adapt to fashion and design, to perceived political correctness, gender and sexual identity and so much more.

It is little wonder there is much confusion, online bullying, depression and even increased suicides among our young people.

Yet in our verses today it speaks of our bodies being kept in a way that is pleasing to God. He wants us to be holy. In fact, The Lord tells us that is what He finds acceptable. In a world that is becoming more and more unreasonable, God asks of us that which is reasonable.

The pressure to conform to this world is taken off us by The Lord. His plan is Transformation! It’s not so much a physical change - though that can be a very real result of it. It’s a new mind set. Not this worlds values -but Gods values.

Question: Where can we find Gods standards and values? In His Word, the bible.

Reading His Word with the illumination of The Holy Spirit will change how you think!

This in turn will change how you act. It will show you God’s will for your life and with it the promise of eternal life for all who put their trust in His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ.

In a world of uncertainty, a world with ever changing ideologies and trends

let the Word of God be your compass: in all moral and spiritual areas of your life.

Don’t conform, instead be transformed! You are invited here to put God to the test. “prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

Society strives for and asks for perfection. As imperfect creatures we always fall well short. Each of us falls short of Gods standard. - Romans 3v 23

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

In fact, if we are honest, we don’t even meet our own standards that we set for ourselves!

Only God is perfect- ask Him to clear up all the wreckage of your past.

Here is the good news of the gospel- if you sincerely ask Christ to come into your life and cleanse you He will do that.

1 John 1:9:

“If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. “

From that very moment you are guaranteed a Transformation.

Till next month God willing, much love from Pastor John
