May blog 2022 - Righting Past Wrongs

Updated: Nov 12, 2022

Perhaps you did not realise that on 3rd May there is a “World Press Freedom Day”. It has to do with freedom of speech, press liberty and things of that nature. Many feel the “woke culture” is trying to ban all things that are deemed to be out of line with their select world views.

One of the big issues of the woke culture is the way it digs deep into a person’s history and vilifies them for past actions. Now, of course, many things from the past must and should be dealt with. No question about that- others though, not so much. The woke movement offers no hope for wrongs done or absolution for them.

Question: Why do we call the gospel “Good News?” Well, it also highlights past and present wrongs (sin as the bible calls them). The difference is this: the free offer of forgiveness!

God who is Holy and just, called in scripture “The Righteousness Judge of all the earth” must judge sin. We are all guilty before Him.

Romans 3v23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; That dear friend is bad news for all of us.

BUT THE BIBLE DOES NOT STOP THERE!

For verse 24&25 tells us:

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.

The Lord Jesus took on Him the weight and shame of all who trust in Him and receive Him by faith!

Whatever your past has been, God offers a new and bright future for all who come to Him through His dear Son.

Romans 5v 8 and 9:

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him

Praying each of you walk in the good of God’s grace in the days that lie ahead.

Love and blessings
