Who knew that there is such a thing as “world smile day“ being celebrated on 6th October this year? It encourages acts of kindness and seemingly reminds us the smiley face :) was created in 1963!
Let’s be honest though, it’s not always easy - or even appropriate to smile. Think of a funeral service for example or an important medical examination. Still, we catch the drift don’t we?
Random acts of kindness are another thing that on deeper inspection could do with some consideration. Perhaps you think ,“the first person who walks past I will buy a coffee”. They might be a multimillionaire and don’t need one! Far better are targeted acts of kindness.
We are told the Lord Jesus was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Yet faith in Him brings us more than a smile but deep joy. That joy can be depended upon every day of the year. It’s not dependent on circumstances nor even our current situations.
1 Peter 1v7-9:
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls
Now that friends is something to smile about!
