Here in the UK we seem to have many problems to face at this present time. Some are political, others financial with moral failure and a decreasing world influence to boot.
What does the bible have to say regarding the rise of a nation? Proverbs 14v34 tells us: “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Now that may seem strange to you to consider that verse. Perhaps you thought a change in economic policy would change this nation. Or deeper social reform. Now I am not suggesting these things don’t make a difference. However big change, deep change and lasting change, change for the good by God’s standards only comes when sin is dealt a blow and a nation turns to God.
Remember in the book of Jonah when the great city of Nineveh is on the brink of judgment. Its inhabitants repented before The Lord and He moved to save them.
Even the history of our own nation proves that. When Britain was on the brink of an industrial revolution similar to France, along came Wesley and Whitfield preaching. Thousands were converted and a nation was turned around. Righteousness was evident- for The Lord had moved mightily.
That is our hope and prayer for our country here at GCF. That God would breakthrough and breakout! That we would confess our sins and turn to Christ. The One who is mighty to save.
Till next month, blessings from Pastor John and the church here in Kilmarnock. If you are in our area you are very welcome to come along.
