Hi guys, I would like to consider in this blog the importance of tying in with a good gospel preaching church. It has been such a blessing and a privilege to minister online during the lockdown months. Modern technology has allowed gospel preachers throughout the world to minister into people’s homes bringing the good news and a message of hope. Yet the truth be told it also has a flip side. Negatives you may not really have considered before.
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching
Hebrews 10:24- 25
People are social creatures and are designed to be such. In Genesis, God actually gives a whole long list of things that are good. The first thing He says is “not good” is for man to be alone.
Online church can give you teaching which is fantastic. What it does not give is a sense of belonging, accountability or an opportunity to serve. We can easily become consumers and not participants. You don’t really know others in the church and neither do they know you. Think how you even sit as you are in church. Many are attentive and engaging. At home it’s all too easy to sit with your pyjamas on with a cup of tea half listening! Neither to consider service of others or financial contribution. It has been a short-term blessing but could in the long run lead to lethargic and even a self-focused attitude.
Now churches are going back it is so important to find one. One that preaches the gospel, with good sound teaching and outreach, one that loves God and one that loves people. Throw yourself in and get involved. Be one who serves, who develops and spiritually grows.
Be a person who “provokes others to love and good works” by your example.
Be a living stone, make yourself available and as you do you never know what God will do with your life.
Of course, if you are in our area you are warmly welcomed to fellowship with us. Even if you are not, don’t become an “online Christian “- don’t “forsake the assembling as the manner of some is”. As Jesus said “Seek and ye shall find”.
