As lockdown restrictions ease off we now consider the question: what happens next?
Today I want to look at part of the story of Moses. He had been brought up for forty years as a Prince in Egypt. He was learned in its wisdom and ways.
He did have a call on his life (to deliver the children of Israel), yet went about doing it his own way (he killed an Egyptian and buried him in the sand).
Following that, he ran away and spent the next forty years in the wilderness where he learned lessons in humility and reliance on God.
Now, The Lord speaks to him out of the burning bush and commissions him with going back to Egypt and leading the children of Israel out of captivity and into the promised land.
Exodus 3: 10-12:
Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain…
In verse 11 He asks the question “who am I”. He was hesitant and reluctant to say the least. Perhaps you can relate with that feeling as you start to go back in society and circle you have been separated from over the last number of months.
Yet The Lord had a plan for him and would empower him to do it.
Romans 8: 28 tells us, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
The Lord has a plan and a purpose for every Christian. The secret is to find out what He has for you to do in your life for Him and to pursue it with all your heart and might. One thing all Christians are called to do is to share the “good news “- the gospel of Christ. Many people need good news right now and it’s a great privilege to share that with them. You may feel inadequate - truth is we all are! Yet He will give us strength and direction when we rely on Him and cry out in dependency to Him.
Verse 12 tells us: “ Certainly I will be with thee”. What a promise! What a comfort and encouragement! We do not need to head out of lockdown alone. But we do it knowing The Lord is with us. We do it knowing He has a task for each of us. As we also emerge we can serve Him in it.
If you do not know Christ as your personal saviour it does not really matter what else you do and achieve in this life.
Mark 8: 36 and 37:
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Run to Christ and ask Him to forgive you and cleanse you and make you anew.
Then you will find a purpose in your life that you could never previously have imagined.
We pray each person reading this will stay safe and be blessed.
